THE ALFA ROMEO TEAM HAVE BEEN DEFEATED BY FERRARI NOW AND THEN DURING THE SEASON BUT IN FRONT OF THE ADORING ITALIAN PUBLIC, THE CARS FROM MARANELLO SOUNDLY BEAT THOSE FROM TURIN IN THIS WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP RACE, WITH THE STARRING ROLE BEING TAKEN BY THE BURLY ARGENTINE FROILAN GONZALES.

MONZA MUSINGS:
A remarkable turn around in fortunes with Alfa looking all at sea and Ferrari supreme.
The local fans were very pro-Ascari but Gonzales just edged the Italian out after a race long duel.
With Taruffi's retirement and Villoresi's lack of pace, test driver Serafini did a fine job to come home third.
Chiron once again excelled himself, the little Maserati running beautifully all day.
Farina's efforts to keep the Championship fight alive come to nought when he crashed with less than two laps to go.
Rosier showed the benefit of perseverance, running 12th early on, he made his way up to 6th with some smooth steady driving.
When Fangio's drive shaft failed on lap 24 he must have been a little concerned because at that time Farina led the race but Juan Manuel's World Championship was
confirmed when Nino spun off near the end.
The Gordini team ran in the last three places for much of the race but only Manzon saw the chequered flag.
So, with just the Spanish Grand Prix left in the Championship season Juan Manuel Fangio is confirmed as World Champion.
